THE PARTY CORNER IS OPEN FOR BUSINESS
SHREWSBURY – The weekend before Halloween usually brings a significant amount of business to Party Corner, which sells costumes and rents party supplies in the borough near the boundary with Red Bank. This year, however, Maria Flynn, a manager at Party Corner since 1994, worries that the closure of Route 35 near the store’s location on Newman Springs Road may jeopardize the small business’ Halloween sales by cutting off customers coming from the north.

During the closure, motorists should bypass the area via Shrewsbury Avenue, according to a news release from the Red Bank Police Department. The closure has also come as an unwelcomed surprise for at least one other business in the area.
“All the customers that come in from Red Bank and Little Silver, it’s going to get longer to go here or they might go to the competition,” said Flynn, who received word of the closure from a customer. “We have to hire some extra people to be here for this weekend. This weekend is the more important weekend for us and closing that corner is definitely going to affect our business.”
